I have been a freelance IT consultant since 1996, working full and part-time for several clients. I specialize in integrating database, web and mobile applications, and in the convergence of voice, mobile, media, networking and data. My primary clients are small to mid-size companies. I have done everything from wiring networks, building firewalls, administering Linux and Windows servers, to writing custom PHP, MySql web applications and mobile apps.
I have managed development of apps and ebooks that have climbed into the top ten positions in their respective categories multiple times. I led a team of programmers that created a web service, and continue working with the team to improve and refine it.
From 1989 to 1996, I worked at Wake Forest University, growing into the position of Academic Computing Manager, and creating the university web site, nominated for Best Campus-Wide Information System in the 1994 Best of the Web Awards.
Little known facts about me are that I provided voice talent for an app, I have appeared in two movies, and I have played bass, sung, and recorded several bands. I am thanked in the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s “Extended Guide to the Internet.“
As I progress in my career, I am looking to apply my wide-ranging experience to help with the management and development of teams, and to help create enterprises which use new media and technology to improve the quality of life for both employees and customers. I am still doing hands-on coding and hardware support, as well as teaching and coordinating the work of others.
