I like people with dark skin and light skin, and in between, gay people and same sex people, and people in between, men and women, and people in between, and people who go back and forth between them all, and people of all religions, and none, and people who speak Spanish or Chinese. I don’t like it when people try to foster dislike between groups, and I think it’s Un-American, and un-Christian. I think people should play by the rules and work hard, and if they break a rule, they should pay a penalty in money or time, and then we should be done with it. I think how you got here doesn’t make you who you are, whether you sped and ran red lights, or crossed borders. If you’re here, you have rights, no matter who you are. If you disagree, I feel sorry for you, and hope you learn and change.

So, at the Winston-Salem Symphony performance I sat next to a delightful lady who kept her rather large purse in her lap. This enabled her to check her phone, in the bag, periodically as they played the Brahms Requiem, and well as retrieve bubble gum, which she chewed throughout the performance. I was impressed at how quietly she blew her bubbles, although they were large enough that I worried an accident might obstruct my egress. It might have been that her many jangly bracelets drowned out the gun sounds. Like they did the symphony.
